LEGISLATIVE UPDATE (01/13/23)
Happy New Year!
The 2023 legislative session began this week with a flurry of activity and a historic number of new legislators taking office. We are grateful that Bishop James Wall from the Diocese of Gallup was invited to say the prayer in the Senate on Opening Day and look forward to a good session.
The flood of new legislation is only just beginning. For its part, the Arizona Catholic Conference (ACC) will again monitor all legislation as it impacts the Catholic Church and its interests and provide regular updates throughout the entire session. If you have not already done so, please make sure that you are signed up to receive important updates by going to www.azcatholicconference.org.
The start of the legislative session also means that the Red Mass is right around the corner. Everyone is invited to join Bishop John Dolan and Bishop Eduardo Nevares along with our judges, elected officials, lawyers, and other public servants on Tuesday, January 17th at St. Mary’s Basilica at 5:30 p.m. The homilist will be Bishop Dolan!
